SIS talents Soon Wern-Shynn, Grade 10 and Pooja Sivalingam, Grade 7 hit all the right notes at the recent AIMS (Association of International Malaysian Schools) Young Musician Award 2015. This nationwide competition featured prodigious talent from young musicians that were adjudicated by respected international musicians that included Mr Bill Thomson, senior ABRSM examiner from Hong Kong and Mr Eugene Pook, Malaysia-based conductor and educator. Soon Wern-Shynn did SIS proud by qualifying for the final rounds, and earned a medal for her efforts. Congratulations to all the winners!

Science Games Day
Date : 30th May 2015 Venue : Sunway International School
Are you ready for SIS’ very first Science Games Day? Leading up to the big day, over 50 teams from local and international schools will compete in the Games activities consisting of Water bottle rocket launch event, Elastic band car race, Mystery box build and Einstein’s Challenge, an online live response science quiz. Themed Collaborate, Construct and Compete, the Games are designed to promote science and discover scientific and creative talents among 14- 17 year olds. Aspiring female Malaysian astronaut Ms Roshini Muniam, will deliver the keynote address.

Special Screening - Plastic Paradise

In conjunction with Earth Week at SIS, SIS is hosting a special screening of the documentary “Plastic Paradise”. After the viewing, non-governmental organization Ecoknights will take questions in a Q&A session. This event is open to students and staff from SIS and CIMP. Ecoknights is a non-profit NGO dedicated to raising a nation of ecologically conscious Malaysians that embrace and adopt sustainable lifestyles ecoknights.org.my

Following the release of the mid-term academic reports, this meeting is a good time to discuss your child’s progress and plan steps for further improvement. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring your child/ward to the meeting. Teachers will be meeting with parents and students on a first-come, first-served basis and appointments need to registered with student secretaries on arrival at SIS.

SIS teachers at Southeast Asian Studies Symposium 2015

SIS teachers Mr. Blake Watters, Mr. Evan Long and Ms. Shannon Walsh presented their action research on Technology in the South East Asian Classroom at the Southeast Asian Studies Symposium 2015 recently. Hosted by Jeffrey Cheah Institute of Southeast Asia and Sunway University, and in conjunction with Oxford University, the conference provided a platform for emerging and established scholars to demonstrate their latest research on the region. SIS is proud to have dedicated teachers who continue to engage the wider education community to share best practices.
2015 Malaysian History Bee and Bowl Championship

SIS congratulates all participants and winners of the 2015 Malaysian History Bee and Bowl Championship. Organized by the International History Bee and Bowl Organization - Asia Division, the competition saw middle and high school students from Dalat International School, Nexus International School, Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka and SIS compete in the Bee (Individual) and Bowl (Team) rounds.
