Heath Kondro

Principal

Mr. Heath Kondro holds a Bachelor of Education and two Master of Education degrees in the areas of Technology and Administration Leadership, all from the University of Alberta.  Now in his 18th year of teaching, Mr. Kondro has taught World and Canadian History, Economics, Communication Technology in Malaysia and first year university courses in Canada.

His administrative background includes 5 years as Technology Director in Bolivia, and Vice-Principal in a middle school in Vietnam, Student Affairs Coordinator, and Deputy Principal of Sunway International School. Mr. Kondro’s  primary responsibilities are oversight of academic priorities and initiatives, management of all staff, overall student welfare, and ensuring compliance of Malaysian and Ontario Ministry of Education policies.

 

 

 

Michael Owen

Deputy Principal

Mr. Owen's key responsibility is ensuring that SIS is a safe and engaging learning environment for all students. Ensuring that discipline and order is maintained as well as working with other departments to ensure the school operates at peak efficiency help achieve this responsibility.

He earned his Diploma in Education from the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia and completed his Masters in International Education at Western University, Ontario. Mr. Owen has been with Sunway for over 12 years and counting.     

 
 

Low Fun Fun

Head - Admissions & Administration 

Ms. Low Fun Fun joined SIS in 2012, inspired by the academic quality and uniqueness of the Ontario curriculum.

She brings a wealth of experience from her over 15 years’ service in the sales, public relations, and marketing sector. Ms. Low oversees all admission & administration matters for SIS.       

 
 

Mark Milberg

IB Diploma Coordinator

Mr. Milberg holds a Bachelor of Science, with a major in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University and an Honours Specialist in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. He is also an IB-trained educator in Chemistry and Mathematics. Mr. Milberg has taught for 6 years in Canada, 3 years in Vietnam and 6 years with SIS. In his role as the IBDP Coordinator at SIS, Mr. Milberg combines his experience as an Ontario and IB educator to helm the IB programme administration, development, and communication.

 
 

Nathan Shier

Academic Coordinator

As the Academic Coordinator, Mr. Shier oversees all academic matters for SIS. Mr. Shier received his Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in History from King’s University College, Ontario and his Bachelor of Education from Western University, Ontario. He is qualified to teach Intermediate and Senior courses, and also has qualifications in Guidance & Career Education and Special Education. Mr Shier taught in the U.K. for 2 years before joining SIS as a Grade 7 Core teacher. Mr. Shier was a Guidance Counsellor for 3.5 years at SIS before being appointed the Academic Coordinator.

 
 

Foo Lai Tuan

SIS House Master

Mr. Foo Lai Tuan joined SIS in 2010 with the passion to help those who are away from home. Like a father figure to our boarders, he enjoyed working with young people tremendously to help them grow and develop their full potentials. Mr. Foo has worked in regional wood based and paper coating industries for more than 3 decades;. He managed SIS House to offer youngsters comfortable ‘Home Away From Home’ experiences.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Andre Tuazon

Andre Tuazon holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), majoring in Sociology, and a Master of Teaching degree both from University of Toronto. Prior to SIS, he has taught in Toronto, Vancouver, and Seoul. Mr. Tuazon joins SIS as a Grade 7 core teacher

 
 

Angela Ryall

Angela Ryall graduated with Joint Hons in Politics/Italian from UCC and Higher Diploma in Education (French/History) from UCD, Ireland. She continued her studies in Canada and received additional qualifications in Special Education and ESL.  Ms. Ryall has been teaching ESL for twenty years in locations including China, Vietnam, Korea and Brunei. Prior to joining SIS, she was ESL coordinator for a high school in Toronto, Canada for twelve years.

 
 

April Dodewaard

April Van Dodewaard graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics. She also completed a Bachelor of Education at Queen's University, specializing in Mathematics and Physics, with an additional qualification in Social Science. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught at a Canadian international school on the island of Sint Maarten in the Caribbean for 2 years and a private school in Toronto, Canada for one year.

 
 

Brittany Gaetan

Brittany Gaetan earned both her Bachelor (Hons) of Arts and Bachelor (Hons) of Education from Trent University, in Ontario, Canada. Her specialization is in English Literature and Cultural Studies, with a focus on Studio Arts. Ms. Gaetan  joins SIS in summer 2017 and currently teaches Grade 9 Visual Arts.

 
 

Brittany Scarfo

Brittany Scarfo graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Literature and Global Studies. She also completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto, specializing in English and Geography, with an additional qualification of English as a Second Language. Prior to teaching English and ESL at SIS, she taught at a Canadian international school in Dalian, China for three years. 

 
 

Chantelle Picanco

Chantelle Picanco graduated from the University of Toronto, Ontario with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in French and Geography. She completed her Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University, Ontario and has additional teaching qualifications in English as a Second Language. Mme Chantelle currently teaches Grade 7 and 8 French. 

 

 
 

Christina Godoy

Christina Godoy earned both her Bachelor (Hons) of Arts and Bachelor (Hons) of Education from York University, Ontario. Her specialization is in English and Social Sciences, and she also has qualifications in special education. Ms. Godoy has taught at middle and high schools in Canada, and teaches high school History, English, Psychology and Drama in SIS. 

 

 
  
 

Craig Telford

Craig Telford joins SIS from the United Kingdom. Craig holds a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) with distinction specialising in Biology as well as a Bachelor of Science degree (hons) majoring in Physiology. Craig is also an ISSA (International Sports Science Association) certified Specialist in Fitness Nutrition. He has previously taught in England and Malaysia. Craig joins SIS as a Grade 7 Core teacher.  

 

 
  
 

Daniel Eves

Daniel Eves graduated from York University with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science. He completed his Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University, Ontario and has additional teaching qualifications in Mathematics and Physical Education. Previously a Grade 8 Core teacher at SIS, Mr. Eves currently teaches high school Health and Physical Education.

 
 

Derek Rysavy

Derek Rysavy graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Education, from the University of Saskatchewan with a Masters of International Trade and with a Bachelor of Economics. He also graduated from Southern Alberta Insititute of Technology with a Petroleum Engineering diploma and held a Certified Engineering Technology designation through ASET.  Prior to teaching at SIS he has taught in Qingdao, Richmond, and Surrey and worked in the Oil and Gas industry in Canada and was in the Canadian Forces for five years.

 
 

Fernando Morales

Mr. Morales is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he studied Physics and Mathematics and holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen's University. He has taught in Canada and Malaysia. Mr. Morales' passion for teaching students in Malaysia brings him back from Canada to join SIS as a high school Physics and Mathematics teacher.

 

 
 
 

Giuseppe Sauro

Giuseppe Sauro graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education holding a K-12 Music Teacher Certification. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Integrative Music Studies from Concordia University. Mr. Sauro has previously taught Canada and Qatar. Joe has also performed in musical groups and bands for several years playing many diverse styles of music all over Canada, and in Morocco. Mr. Sauro joins SIS as a Grade 9 Music Theory teacher.

 
 

Heather Brooks

Heather Brooks graduated from the University of Toronto, Ontario with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in French and History, and a Bachelor of Education. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Education through Queen's University. Mme. Brooks taught French Immersion in Canada, as well as French and Geography in the United Kingdom for two years. Mme. Brooks currently teaches Grade 9 French and Grade 12 Social Science at SIS.

 
 

James Lahey

James Lahey studied Philosophy and Religious studies at the University of Western Ontario and graduated from the Faculty of Education. Prior to SIS, Mr. Lahey spent 8 years teaching Communications Technology and Business Studies at the Secondary and Adult Education panel for the Thames Valley District School Board in Ontario. Mr. Lahey teaches Communications Technology and Art to SIS high school students. 

 
 

Jared Keddy

Jared Keddy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and English and a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy, both from Dalhousie University, Halifax. He completed his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Toronto, Ontario. Prior to SIS, Mr. Keddy taught for 3 years in Korea and Thailand, and teaches high school English and IBDP's Theory of Knowledge in SIS.  

 
 

Jennifer Vicencio

Jennifer Vicencio graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) majoring in Human Geography and specializing in History, as well as a Master of Teaching degree. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught in Toronto. Ms. Vicencio joins SIS as a Grade 8 Core teacher.

 
 

Jessica Kenzington

Jessica Kenzington graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), majoring in Psychology from Trent University and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in Ontario. Her specializations are in French and English and has an additional teaching qualification in teaching English Language Learners. Prior to joining SIS, Ms. Kenzington taught Drama and English in Guangzhou, China.  She is currently teaching high school English at SIS.

 
 

Joseph Brush

Joseph Brush obtained a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario where he studied English Literature, History, and Film Studies. He completed his Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. Mr Brush previously taught in Ontario before joining SIS where he is teaching Grade 7 Core.

 
 

Kayla Deasley

Kayla Deasley graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biology. Ms. Deasley completed a Master of Science degree at the University of Guelph and then worked at the University of Alberta. Ms. Deasley completed her Master of Teaching degree at the University of Toronto specializing in Science, and has an additional qualification in Mathematics. She joins SIS as the Grade 7 Science teacher. 

 
 

Kellee Melendy

Kellee Melendy holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology, from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has taught science, biology and social sciences in Newfoundland, Quebec, Beijing, and Malaysia. Ms. Melendy joins the SIS team as the Grade 9 Science teacher.  

 
 

Kristin Santoro

Kristin Santoro graduated from York University, in Ontario, with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Law and Society and Humanities. She completed her Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education at the University of Western Ontario, in Ontario, and has teaching qualifications in English, Family Studies, and Special Education. Ms. Santoro has taught at many high schools in Canada, and currently teaches high school English and ESL at SIS

 
 

Leigh Key

Ms. Key is a graduate of Macquarie University Sydney, Australia. Ms Key has been teaching internationally for the past 20 years. As well as teaching in Australia, she has also taught in Asia, Europe, USA, UK and the Middle East. She has a particular passion for the International Baccalaureate and has taught the IB programs  for the past 15 years. She joins us in semester 1 of 2019. She is currently teaching IB DP Language and Literature courses as well as Grade 12 English for the Ontario Curriculum.

 
 

Lim Ann Lay

Lim Ann Lay holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts from University of Malaya, a Diploma of Education from University of Science Malaysia and a Master of Modern Language Studies from University Malaya. Mr. Lim has 26 years of teaching experience in Malaysia and Singapore, having taught students in the local and British curriculum, and IB Diploma programmes. Mr. Lim teaches high school's Bahasa Malaysia in SIS.

 
 

Low Sok Kian

Low Sok Kian holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts from University of Malaya and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching from Open University Malaysia. She has taught Mandarin in other international schools prior to SIS. She joins SIS in 2017 and teaches Mandarin for IBDP and as an after school programme.

 
 

Luc Degrace

Luc Degrace graduated from Laval University with a Bachelors of Arts (Social Sciences) and a Master’s degree in Political Science.  He then continued his studies at the University of Ottawa and obtained a Bachelor of Education. Prior to joining us at SIS, Mr. Degrace taught for two years in Taiwan and four years in Canada. He is currently teaching Grade 11 Economics and Grade 12 Geography at SIS.

 
 

Maggie Zhu

Maggie Zhu holds Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics for Education and Bachelor of Education for intermediate senior division from York University. She is qualifies to teach Mathematics and Dance. Prior to SIS, she taught in China for 2.5 years. Ms. Zhu joins SIS teaching Grade 12 Advance Functions, and Calculus and Vector.

 
 

Marc Brothers

Marc Brothers is a graduate of the University of Windsor in Canada. Since 2003, he has been teaching Business Management, Economics, History, Geography, and Humanities to middle and high school students in Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand, Kuwait, and China. He brings with him 5 years experience in the IB Diploma Programme. He is currently teaching IB Business Management and IB Environmental Systems and Societies. 

 
 

Marie-Josée Talbot-Provost

Marie-Josée Talbot-Provost holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Education with a major in French and a minor in Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology from McGill University. She also has additional qualifications in special education. Prior to SIS, Mme Talbot has taught in a private high school in Québec, Canada. At SIS, she has taught Visual Arts, History, and French for the Canadian and the IB Programme.

 
 

Martin Pagé 

Martin Pagé holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from McGill University. Mr. Pagé previously taught Mathematics and Chemistry in a private high school in Montréal, and Advanced Functions and Calculus in Sunway College’s Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) since 2011. At SIS, he continues to teach high school and IBDP Mathematics courses.    

 
 

Matthew teBogt

Matt teBogt holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Guelph, where he specialized in Biological Sciences. He completed his Bachelor of Education at York University. Mr. teBogt joins SIS in 2017 and currently teaches Middle School Physical Education & Health, and Science.

 
 
 

Michael Roberts

Mr. Michael Roberts holds a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History, Psychology and Sociology from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, and completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Maine. Mr. Robert’s teaching career began in Canada until he moved overseas to teach internationally in 1995. He is now currently teaching Civis and Careers, and English in SIS.

 
 
 

Munira Lila

Munira Lila earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto. Her specialization is in Biology and Social Sciences. Ms. Lila is currently teaching Grade 10 science and Biology for the IB Diploma Programme. 

 
 

Murtaza Velji

Mr. Murtaza Velji holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary, majoring in chemistry and mathematics, as well as a minor in English literature and new media. He received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia, specializing in chemistry and English. Murtaza is currently pursuing his interest in the fields of digital media and technology education. 

 
 

Myriam Lacerte

Myriam Lacerte graduated from the University of Waterloo, Ontario with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Recreation and Leisure studies, and from the University of Ottawa, Ontario with a Bachelor of Education with a focus in Health and Physical Education. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught Health and Physical Education in Ottawa, Ontario. Mme Lacerte joins SIS to teach Grade 9 Healthy Active Living Education and Grade 9 French.

 
 

Nicole Bidwell

Nicole Bidwell graduated from Simon Fraser University, holding a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an Extended Minor in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. Ms Bidwell's previous teaching experiences include teaching Mathematics in India and Canada. Currently, she is teaching high school Mathematics at SIS. Ms. Bidwell is also a Guidance Counsellor.

 
 

Norashimah Jalil

Norashimah Jalil graduated from the Islamic International University Malaysia with a Bachelor of Human Sciences, majoring in History and Civilization. Ms. Shimah has 11 years experience teaching Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies and Islamic Studies at pre-university level in local colleges. At SIS, she teaches Bahasa Malaysia to the middle school programme.

 

  

 

Perry Byrne

Perry Byrne holds both an Ontario Teaching License and a Newfoundland and Labrador Teaching License. He has a Bachelor of Arts in French and History and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Mr. Byrne has taught grade 7 and 8 in Canada in 2012 and 2017. He joined Sunway International School and taught French in the Middle School program from 2013-2016 and most recently in 2018, Mr. Byrne returned to SIS as a Middle School facilitator and a Core Grade 8 teacher.

 
 

Preet Kaur Dhillon

Dr. Preet Dhillon earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degrees from Ohio Valley University in West Virginia. She also graduated with her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership degree from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Dr. Dhillon has experience teaching middle school, high school, college, and university students. She has taught in North America, Europe, and Asia. Ms. Dhillon currently teaches mathematics at SIS.

 
 

Rosetta Zuko

Rosetta Zuko started her career as a scientist and closed that up with her second Bachelor Degree in education from the University of Alberta, Canada. She has taught internationally going on 8 years and possessing diverse experience teaching subjects including Science, Math, Information & Communication Technology, and Physical Education.

 
 

Ryan Brown

Ryan Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History from the University of Western Ontario, and a Bachelor of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. His specialization is in History and Social Sciences. He also has qualifications in Senior Level English. Mr. Brown is also certified to teach IB Geography. In SIS, he taught English and Social Sciences, and is now teaching Geography, for both Ontario and IBDP. 

 
 

Safa Talal

Safa Talal holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Carleton University with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She has earned her Master’s of Teaching degree at the University of Toronto with specializations in Biology and Mathematics. Ms. Talal joins SIS in summer 2018 and currently teaches high school biology and general science. 

 
 
 

Subatra Muthusamy

Subatra Muthusamy obtained her Bachelor (Hons) of Education from University Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia with a major in English Language. She also holds Master of Education, majoring in English Language Teaching from the Northern University of Malaysia. Ms. Subatra has taught English for 8 years, and currently teaches the English for Academic Purpose programme at SIS.

 
 

Sylvia Kwong

Sylvia Kwong holds a BSc (Honours) and Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, Canada. She completed her Master of Science at Royal Holloway, University of London where she specialized in the study of past climate change. She taught at an Ontario curriculum school in Guangdong Province, China and in New Brunswick, Canada prior to joining SIS where she is currently teaching Biology and Mathematics.

 
 

Terrance Tam

Terrance Tam graduated from the concurrent program at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science and Education. He has experience teaching mathematics in the United Kingdom for a year and supplying for the Toronto District School Board Elementary Division for 2 years. Mr. Tam currently teaches Chemistry to SIS high school students.

 

 
 

Vanessa Eves

Vanessa Eves obtained her Bachelor of Physical Education (Hons) and Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Mrs. Eves is a Masters graduate in Masters of Educational Leadership program at Memorial University. Prior to SIS, she has taught in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Mrs. Eves has been with SIS since 2013 started as a Grade 8 core teacher, then taught high school Business and Marketing. She is currently teaching high school Math and also the Math Curriculum Lead.

 

 
 

Vega Lee

Vega Lee joined SIS in 2018 after teaching for 10 years at the Toronto District School Board in Ontario. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from the University of Guelph, and Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She also has a Master of Engineering Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to SIS, she taught Math, Science, Physics, Biology, and in Student Success with Guidance. Ms. Lee joins SIS teaching Physics and Guidance.
