Organized by Ms. Gauthier with assistance from Ms. Wyse, the Poetry Slam competition went off smoothly with a great turnout from competitors and audience that included students, staff and administrators. The poems delivered explored a wide range of topics, from love and drugs, to judging people based on their looks to family issues, to teen angst and social media, kept the audience riveted and applauding over the span of 3 hours. The theme of the day was passion, and this was reflected in original compositions, admirable competitive spirit and the fervent delivery of the spoken word. The event culminated with a special reading of “What Teachers Make” from the organizers themselves that brought the house down! Congratulations Amanda Cheh, Danzel Waran and Lee Shirley on finishing in the top three.
