K classes on Greenland Kids Trip @ SIS Sunway Iskandar
Date: 5th September 2019 Venue: Greenland Kids
The G Kids Field Trip on the 5th of September was an incredible day for the Kindergarten classes at SIS, Sunway Iskandar. The students arrived early to G Kids and were each given a passport. After a quick snack, we set out to explore the park. The students were able to visit 6 of the many different centres G Kids has to offer. They checked pulaes of patients at the hospital, ensured everyone was safe as police officers and firefighters rode in the firetruck and put out a fire at the hotel! The students went on an archaeological adventure where they found dinosaurs bones and gold coins, made chocolates as chocolatiers, and lastly, made a movie where they were the stars. It was an exciting day indeed! - SIS, Sunway Iskandar

On Saturday, April 20, 2019 we welcomed more than 50 families to join us on our first open day of the year. Having the intention to introduce parents more to our curriculum, we had experiential workshops from kindergarten to IBDP. To demonstrate our balanced approach in kindergarten and elementary school, teachers integrated arts and character education in lessons for students. In secondary school experiential workshops, teachers demonstrated the importance of international mindedness and critical thinking skills by drawing on examples from daily life. Through these tailored activities and workshops, parents were able to gain insights on how character education works at Sunway International School. Our admission staff, teachers, and student volunteers had a great day interacting with parents!

On 9th March, we had our first Parent Info Session of the year. It was a session with our early education as a focus. We had Ms. Margaret and Ms. Alicia from kindergarten sharing with parents how our two-year kindergarten program is structured, using an interactive and inquiry-based education philosophy. From the presentation and guided tour, parents got to know students’ life in school, teachers’ teaching pedagogies, as well as the classroom setup. In addition, examples of large and small group play, as well as free play with literacy, numeracy, or observation foci, were given for parents to have a clearer understanding of play-based and interactive education. It was a morning well spent, with lots of good information shared! - SIS, Sunway Iskandar

For the second year running we have completed our mission to pack 80,000 meals for this year’s Rise Against Hunger 2018 campaign. On August 10, 2018 we had the privilege to be the Sunway venue for Rise Against Hunger in Johor Bahru. We were about 250 strong! Volunteers came from various parts of the Sunway group, complemented by about 150 students and staff from our secondary school. We were very busy, contributing to the packing and deliveries of the meals to those in need. One of volunteers, asked if there were still people in extreme poverty in Malaysia. To that question, the answer is – Yes, there are many people who require a little assistance and we need to do our part to reach out to them.
