Heath Kondro

Principal

Heath Kondro holds a Bachelor of Education and two Master of Education degrees in the areas of Technology and Administration Leadership, all from the University of Alberta.  Now in his 20th year of teaching, Mr. Kondro has taught World and Canadian History, Economics, Communication Technology in Malaysia and first-year university courses in Canada.

His administrative background includes 5 years as Technology Director in Bolivia, and Vice-Principal in a middle school in Vietnam, Student Affairs Coordinator, and Deputy Principal and Principal of Sunway International School (Sunway City campus). Mr. Kondro’s primary responsibilities are oversight of academic priorities and initiatives, management of all staff, overall student welfare, and ensuring compliance with the International Baccalaureate Organization and the Malaysian Ministry of Education policies.

 

 

 

Michael Owen

Deputy Principal

Mr. Owen's key responsibility is ensuring that SIS is a safe and engaging learning environment for all students. Ensuring that discipline and order is maintained as well as working with other departments to ensure the school operates at peak efficiency help achieve this responsibility.

He earned his Diploma in Education from the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia and completed his Masters in International Education at Western University, Ontario. Mr. Owen has been with Sunway for over 12 years and counting.     

 
 

Low Fun Fun

Head - Admissions & Administration 

Ms. Low Fun Fun joined SIS in 2012, inspired by the academic quality and uniqueness of the Ontario curriculum.

She brings a wealth of experience from her over 15 years’ service in the sales, public relations, and marketing sector. Ms. Low oversees all admission & administration matters for SIS.       

 
 

Mark Milberg

IB Diploma Coordinator

Mr. Milberg holds a Bachelor of Science, with a major in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University and an Honours Specialist in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. He is also an IB-trained educator in Chemistry and Mathematics. Mr. Milberg has taught for 6 years in Canada, 3 years in Vietnam and 6 years with SIS. In his role as the IBDP Coordinator at SIS, Mr. Milberg combines his experience as an Ontario and IB educator to helm the IB programme administration, development, and communication.

 
 

Sylvia Kwong

Academic Coordinator

As Academic Coordinator, Ms Kwong oversees all academic matters for SIS. Ms Kwong graduated from Queen's University, Canada with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Bachelor of Education. She also holds an MSc degree from Royal Holloway, the University of London where she specialized in the study of paleoclimatology. Ms. Kwong's teachable subjects include Geography, Biology, and Intermediate Mathematics. Prior to joining SIS in 2018, she taught at international schools in China and Canada for 3 years. Ms. Kwong taught teaching Biology for the OSSD and IBDP at SIS prior to be appointed as the Academic Coordinator.

 
 

Samson Philip

Manager - SIS House

Mr. Philip has worked in the education sector for more than ten years and actively involved in student safety, health and wellbeing areas. His focus is on providing practical advice for students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders on the development and implementation of professional services involving local and international students ranging from non-academic student support, student leadership and development, critical incidents, and residential life programs. 

Mr. Philip joined SIS in 2019 and oversees overall operational matters as well as student safety, health, and wellbeing of students in SIS House.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aaron MacArthur

Aaron MacArthur spent the last 12 years working in various international educational settings in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Kuwait, and Indonesia. He has taught mathematics, international business, and business leadership. Mr. MacArthur has worked in International Baccalaureate, American, and Ontario curriculum schools. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education.

 
 

Alex Lapp

Alex Lapp holds a BA Degree in Economics from York University in Toronto and a Masters of Science in Education from Medaille College, Buffalo, New York.  He has been teaching for 15 years, beginning with Korea and Thailand as an ESL teacher in public schools. After completing his Masters in Education, he has been teaching  Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, and Business for BC Offshore schools in China for the last 8 years.

 
 

April Van Dodewaard

April Van Dodewaard graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics. She also completed a Bachelor of Education at Queen's University, specializing in Mathematics and Physics, with an additional qualification in Social Science. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught an international school in Caribbean for 2 years and a private school in Toronto, Canada for 1 year. Ms. Van Dodewaard teaches Math in SIS.

 
 

Ayoun Basharat

Ayoun Basharat holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. He has a Master of Education degree from Queen's University. He has taught in Canada, UK, Malaysia and specializes in the Ontario and IBDP Curriculum. Mr. Basharat taught in SIS Sunway Iskandar campus before he transferred to Sunway City campus. Currently, Mr. Basharan teaches High School Science and Chemistry.

 
 

Brian Le

Brian Le graduated from the University of Guelph, Ontario, with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.  He later earned his Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia with an additional English language learner qualification from Brock University. He has taught for 9 years and has taught in the UK, Australia, China, and Malaysia. Mr. Le specializes in ESL and is currently teaching high school ESL at SIS.

 
 

Brittany Scarfo

Brittany Scarfo graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Literature and Global Studies. She also completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto, specializing in English and Geography, with an additional qualification of English as a Second Language. Prior to teaching English and ESL at SIS, she taught at a Canadian international school in Dalian, China for three years. At SIS, Ms Scarfo teaches high school English.

 
 

Claire Watson

Claire Watson spent the last 12 years teaching in South East Asia, China, and the Middle East.  She taught Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education in various curricula such as Advanced Placement, American, International Baccalaureate, and Ontario. Ms. Watson holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Toronto; a Bachelor of Education from Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, and a Master of Education from Charles Sturt University.

 
 

Christina Godoy

Christina Godoy earned both her Bachelor (Hons) of Arts and Bachelor (Hons) of Education from York University, Ontario. Her specialization is in English and Social Sciences, and she also has qualifications in special education. Ms. Godoy has taught at middle and high schools in Canada, and teaches high school History, English, Psychology, and Drama in SIS. 

 

 
     
 

Daniel Eves

Daniel Eves graduated from York University with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science. He completed his Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University, Ontario and has additional teaching qualifications in Mathematics and Physical Education. Joined SIS since 2013, Mr. Eves currently teaches high school Mathematics and Health & Physical Education.

 
 
 

Diaman Awaleh

Diaman Awaleh holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta with a minor in special education. Prior to SIS, Mme. Awaleh has taught in Calgary and Kuwait. She has taught elementary students in French immersion schools and at a private American school. Mme. Awaleh joins SIS in 2021 to teach Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8 French. 

 
 

Douglas Culbert

Douglas Culbert earned is Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta, Canada specializing in second language acquisition.  After 15 years of teaching in Qatar and 2 years teaching in China, he joins SIS in 2020 as a grade 7 homeroom teacher.

 
 

Easton Hanna

Easton Hanna earned a Diploma in Child and Youth Counseling at Mohawk College before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He obtained a Bachelor of Education from York University in Toronto in 2007. Mr. Hanna taught with the Canadian Pre-University Programme in Malaysia for 8 years before returning home to teach with Halton District School Board for two years. He began teaching Grade 9 English at SIS in January 2020. 

 
 

Fernando Morales

Mr. Morales is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he studied Physics and Mathematics and holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen's University. He has taught in Canada and Malaysia. Mr. Morales's passion for teaching students in Malaysia brings him back from Canada to join SIS as a high school Physics and Mathematics teacher.

 
 
 

Gerard Kelly

Gerard Kelly joins SIS from the Republic of Ireland. Gerard graduated from Dublin City University (DCU) with a BA in Languages for International Communications and he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education-International from the University of Nottingham. He has previously taught elementary students in Barcelona, Spain. He joins SIS as a Grade 8 teacher of Mathematics & Social Studies. 

 
 

Giuseppe Sauro

Giuseppe Sauro graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education holding a K-12 Music Teacher Certification. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Integrative Music Studies from Concordia University. Mr. Sauro has previously taught Canada and Qatar. Joe has also performed in musical groups and bands for several years playing many diverse styles of music all over Canada, and in Morocco. Mr. Sauro joins SIS as a Grade 9 Music Theory teacher.

 
 

Indira Yerramilli

Indira Yerramilli earned her Hons. Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Social Science from McMaster University, Ontario. She then went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. Ms. Yerramilli has over 20 years of teaching experience with the Toronto District School Board in Canada. She also holds certifications in Intermediate Math and in Hand and Power Tools for Intermediate Design and Technology. Ms. Yerramilli joined SIS in January 2021 as a Grade 7 Core teacher.

 
 

James Lahey

James Lahey studied Philosophy and Religious studies at the University of Western Ontario and graduated from the Faculty of Education. Prior to SIS, Mr. Lahey spent 8 years teaching Communications Technology and Business Studies at the Secondary and Adult Education panel for the Thames Valley District School Board in Ontario. Mr. Lahey teaches Communications Technology and Art to SIS high school students. 

 
 

Jared Keddy

Jared Keddy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and English and a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy, both from Dalhousie University, Halifax. He completed his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Toronto, Ontario. Prior to SIS, Mr. Keddy taught for 3 years in Korea and Thailand. He currently teaches high school English and IBDP's Theory of Knowledge in SIS.  

 
 

Jason Hook

Jason Hook holds BFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a MA from Purdue University Global and his teaching credentials from Point Park University. Teaching since 2005, Mr. Hook has taught at every level in education from pre-kindergarten to the university level. Mr. Hook has taught Business English and ESL in Czech Republich, Korea, and China. Mr. Hook first came to Malaysia to teach in a private university and now, he teaches Grade 10 English at SIS.

 
 

Jason Levy

Jason Levy graduated from York University, Canada with a Bachelor's degree in History and Politics. He earned his Master's degree in History from Queen's University, as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. He has worked as a teacher in Korea and China, and now teaches History and Business at SIS.

 
 

Jessica Kenzington

Jessica Kenzington graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), majoring in Psychology from Trent University, and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in Ontario. Her specializations are in French and English and she has an additional teaching qualification in teaching English Language Learners. Prior to joining SIS, Ms. Kenzington taught Drama and English in Guangzhou, China.  She is currently teaching high school English and French at SIS.

 
 

Kayla Deasley

Kayla Deasley graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biology. Ms. Deasley completed a Master of Science degree at the University of Guelph and then worked at the University of Alberta. Ms. Deasley completed her Master of Teaching degree at the University of Toronto specializing in Science and has an additional qualification in Mathematics. She teaches Grade 6 at SIS. 

 
 

Laura Kilborn

Laura Kilborn graduated from the University of Georgia (USA) with a Bachelor of Arts in News-Editorial Journalism and later earned a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) from Murdoch University (Australia). Before becoming a classroom teacher, Ms. Kilborn was a journalist, adjunct professor and international humanitarian aid volunteer. She has been teaching for eight years and is currently a Grade 8 Core Teacher in Language Arts and Fine Arts at SIS.

 
 

Lim Ann Lay

Lim Ann Lay holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts from the University of Malaya, a Diploma of Education from the University of Science Malaysia and a Master of Modern Language Studies from University Malaya. Mr. Lim has 26 years of teaching experience in Malaysia and Singapore, having taught students in the local and British curriculum, and IB Diploma programmes. Mr. Lim teaches high school's Bahasa Malaysia in SIS.

 
 

Low Sok Kian

Low Sok Kian holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts from the University of Malaya and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching from Open University Malaysia. She has taught Mandarin in other international schools prior to SIS. She joins SIS in 2017 and teaches Mandarin for IBDP and as an after school programme.

 
 

Luc Degrace

Luc Degrace graduated from Laval University with a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) and a Master’s degree in Political Science.  He then continued his studies at the University of Ottawa and obtained a Bachelor of Education. Prior to joining us at SIS, Mr. Degrace taught for two years in Taiwan and four years in Canada. He is currently teaching Grade 9 Geography and Grade 10 French at SIS.  

 
 

Maggie Zhu

Maggie Zhu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics for Education and Bachelor of Education for the intermediate senior division from York University. She is qualified to teach Mathematics and Dance. Prior to SIS, she taught in China for 2.5 years. Ms. Zhu joins SIS teaching Grade 12 Advance Functions, and Calculus and Vector.

 
 

Marc Brothers

Marc Brothers is a graduate of the University of Windsor in Canada. Since 2003, he has been teaching Business Management, Economics, History, Geography, and Humanities to middle and high school students in Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand, Kuwait, and China. He brings with him 5 years of experience in the IB Diploma Programme. He is currently teaching IB Business Management and IB Environmental Systems and Societies. 

 
 

Marie-Josée Talbot-Provost

Marie-Josée Talbot-Provost holds a Bachelor (Hons) of Education with a major in French and a minor in Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology from McGill University. She also has additional qualifications in special education. Prior to SIS, Mme Talbot has taught in a private high school in Québec, Canada. At SIS, she has taught Visual Arts, History, and French for the Canadian and the IB Programme.

 
 

Martin Pagé 

Martin Pagé holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from McGill University. Mr. Pagé previously taught Mathematics and Chemistry in a private high school in Montréal, and Advanced Functions and Calculus in Sunway College’s Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) since 2011. At SIS, he continues to teach high school and IBDP Mathematics courses.    

 
 

Matthew teBogt

Matt teBogt holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Guelph, where he specialized in Biological Sciences. He completed his Bachelor of Education at York University. Mr. teBogt joined SIS in 2017. After 4 years spent in Grade 7 Core & Middle School Science/ Physical Education, Mr teBogt currently teaches High School Biology & Civics.

 
 

Maureen McCulligh

Maureen McCulligh graduated from The University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Social Studies (Geography and History). Ms. McCulligh joined SIS in 2020 and currently teaches Grade 9 Healthy Active Living and Grade 11 Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. Before arriving at SIS, Ms. McCulligh taught in Shanghai, China and Casablanca, Morocco.

 
 
 
 

Michael Roberts

Mr. Michael Roberts holds a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History, Psychology and Sociology from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, and completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Maine. Mr. Robert’s teaching career began in Canada until he moved overseas to teach internationally in 1995. He is now currently teaching Civics and Careers, and English in SIS.

 
   
 

Nathan Shier

Mr. Shier oversees all academic matters for SIS. Mr. Shier received his Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in History from King’s University College, Ontario, and his Bachelor of Education from Western University, Ontario. He is qualified to teach Intermediate and Senior courses, and also has qualifications in Guidance & Career Education and Special Education. Mr. Shier taught in the U.K. for 2 years before joining SIS and was a Guidance Counsellor for 3.5 years at SIS.

 
 

Myriam Lacerte

Myriam Lacerte graduated from the University of Waterloo, Ontario with a Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Recreation and Leisure studies, and from the University of Ottawa, Ontario with a Bachelor of Education with a focus in Health and Physical Education. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught Health and Physical Education in Ottawa, Ontario. Mme Lacerte joins SIS to teach Grade 9 Healthy Active Living Education and Grade 9 French.

 
 

Nicholas Towns

Nicholas Towns obtained a combined Bachelor (Hons) in English and History, as well as a Master's of English at Carleton University, in Ottawa.  He completed his Bachelor of Education at Queen's University.  For ten years, he worked in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy, which brought him to his first post overseas in Indonesia.  As a therapist, he worked with children on the autism spectrum. Nicholas was a founding member of the Grade 7 programme at SIS in 2010, and has also taught at the high school level.

 
 

Nicholas Vidotto

Nicholas Vidotto graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Communications and Law. Mr. Vidotto completed a Master of Teacher degree at the University of Toronto specializing in Health and Physical Education. Prior to SIS, Mr. Vidotto was an Assistant Athletic Director at an international school in Bangkok. He teaches Middle School Health & Physical Education and is SIS Middle School Facilitator. 

 
 

Nicole Vella-Geldart

Nicole Vella-Geldart graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor (Hons) specializing in Ecology. Before becoming a teacher, Ms. Vella worked as a biologist for the Canadian, American, Australian, and the Ecuadorian government as well as Texas A & M University and Virginia Commonwealth University. She attended the University of Toronto and earned her Bachelor of Education. Ms. Vella has taught for 7 years in Canada and Trinidad before joining SIS in 2020.

 
 

Norashimah Jalil

Norashimah Jalil graduated from the Islamic International University Malaysia with a Bachelor of Human Sciences, majoring in History and Civilization. Ms. Shimah has 11 years of experience teaching Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies and Islamic Studies at pre-university level in local colleges. At SIS, she teaches Bahasa Malaysia to the middle school programme.

 

  

 
 

Sarangan Wijayanathan

Sarangan Wijayanathan graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science, specializing in Chemistry and Evolutionary Biology.  Mr. Wijayanathan has taught in China for 3 years and with the Toronto District School Board for about 2 years.  He joins SIS as a Grade 8 rotary Science teacher. 

 
 

Sharon Thangaraj

Sharon Thangaraj was a sponsored student by the Securities Commission Malaysia for her undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance at the University of Surrey, UK. After graduating with First Class Honours in BSc in Economics and Finance, she served the Commission for 4.5 years in various departments such as Investor Affairs, Risk Management, Equities, Takeovers, and Mergers. Ms. Sharon then pursues a full-time career in teaching in 2017. She joined SIS in 2018 and currently teaches Grade 11 Economics.

 
  
 
 

Subatra Muthusamy

Subatra Muthusamy obtained her Bachelor (Hons) of Education from University Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia with a major in English Language. She also holds a Master of Education, majoring in English Language Teaching from the Northern University of Malaysia. Ms. Subatra has taught English for 8 years and currently teaches the English for Academic Purpose programme at SIS.

 
  
 

Dr. Tan Swee Chuan

Dr. Tan Swee Chuan holds a BSc with Education (Hons) and a Master of Philosophy specializing in the field of laser physics from the University of Malaya. He also holds a PhD. in education majoring in Curriculum and Instructional Designs from the same university. He has taught pre-university physics in various programs (AUSMAT, OSSD Grade 12, A-levels, and IBDP) for over 17 years prior to joining SIS. He is currently teaching both the higher and standard levels IBDP physics.

 
 

Terrance Tam

Terrance Tam graduated from the concurrent program at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science and Education. He has experience teaching mathematics in the United Kingdom for a year and supplying for the Toronto District School Board Elementary Division for 2 years. Mr. Tam currently teaches Mathematics to SIS high school students.

 

 
 

Vanessa Eves

Vanessa Eves holds a Bachelor of Physical Education (Hons) and Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Mrs. Eves has also obtained a Masters of Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership from Memorial University. Prior to SIS, Vanessa has taught in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Mrs. Eves has been with SIS since 2013. She started as a Grade 8 core teacher and then taught Business and Marketing. She is currently teaching high school Mathematics.
